It’s been a couple years since I’ve been to Bottoms Up. Used to dine in once or twice a year going back 15 or so years. I thought the food this evening was incredible. I had the beef vegetable soup for an app, which was tremendous, tons of beef. Great flavor. Scallops Carbonara for entree was insanely good. Very nice sized portion consisting of 6 or 7 massive seared scallops and probably 8oz of fettuccine pasta. Sauce was rich and tasty. The best Carbonara I’ve ever had. As usual, Crème Brûlée for dessert. I found the Brûlée to have a different taste and slightly different texture. Orange zest, perhaps? It was excellent, but I will say I preferred the traditional crème brûlée they used to serve. Still, it’s not like I didn’t eat it and enjoy it.

Several of Friends from Middletown Lion’s club had invited me to attend their Christmas holiday dinner at Bottoms Up Restaurant about two years ago. I had a blast the food and service was excellent. Very friendly and professional staff members. Beautiful interior and table settings. It was an excellent experience overall. Enjoying everything from the appetizers to entree to the dessert. Sorry it’s taken me so long to post review on behalf. Yeehaw! Yeehaw!

We have been coming to Bottoms Up for years, and it’s always been one of our favorites. My husband even held my 50th birthday party here. We came here last night with family and it did not meet our expectations at all. To start with, our drinks took a very long time to be served, and weren’t served all at the same time. Also, the bus person plopped a huge pitcher of ice water and glasses on the table without filling them. At a restaurant of this caliber, It’s customary to fill the guest’s water glasses. Now for the food, my husband ordered a rib eye medium rare. It came out well done. They remade his steak to the correct temp but he said it was tough and chewy. My niece ordered filet mignon, med rare. It was raw. Not rare. Raw. And veiny. They offered to redo it, but she declined due to losing her appetite. Two of us had chicken parmigiana, which was fair at best. The chicken cutlet was not crispy and it was too thick. The rest of the food was good, not great. The owner did come to our table, apologized and took the filet off the bill. I should also mention the service- our water pitcher was never refilled, the appetizer came without plates, and none of our entrees, desserts or coffee came out together. To me, this is all unacceptable, especially considering the prices. Normally, we’re happy to pay for good food, drinks and service. This experience was very disappointing and surprising considering we’ve never had a bad meal here before now. I’d also like to add that it would have gone a long way to offer to pick up the cost of our desserts or something. We will all think twice before coming back to Bottoms Up. I hope if we do, it’s back to the place we know and love.

This was the first time at this restaurant and it was definitely a good one. The atmosphere was cozy and I loved the odd layout of the dining room. The food was really good with large portions, our waitress was really busy so it took her a little over long to notice things like when we needed drink refills. Overall it was a really nice evening!
