At our Decatur, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. Ordered a fish dinner and cheese sticks. Only one at the time in the drive thru. Didn’t look like many people on the inside. It seemed to have took a LONG time to make a 3piece fish dinner and cheese sticks. Do they still sell funnel cake sticks here? My cheese sticks tasted sweet. And my son said they smelled like funnel cakes.

While I’m normally not one to complain about a restaurant’s atmosphere, I can this one. For as long as I can remember, the restaurant has had the same fishy smell, but with it warming up, The smell is coming through the drive thru window. That aside, the gumbo was great. It’s just not what I would consider a “Warm Season” food. It’s closer to a soup than I remember. 4 1/2 out of 5.

Horrible . The lady in the drive through. Rushed me and got my order wrong today and then was rude when I called back. So I took the food back for a refund. She stated she could not do it until the manager get there at 1:00. Definitely going back at 1:00. I don’t like the way she handle customer service. Yes this restaurant has serious issues.

The service was good. I did go through the drive thru to pick up lunch. The cashier was very friendly and made sure you left with your food and any sauces you wanted. More places need employees like her. The food was good. The fish batter has changed since the last time I had it, seemed more like the chicken batter. The fish was very thin, about half the size it used to be but they haven’t gone up on prices much if any. Place looks dated and not the cleanest in town. But who doesn’t like Captain D’s?

Placed an order to eat in and it was completely forgotten. I had to pull the receipt out of the trashcan to show her I had even placed the order. The girl at the register that took my order didn’t even realize she had taken my order when I walked back up to her.

This restaurant has issues. More times than not my orders for take out or drive thru are not correct. The last time I ordered grilled whitefish blackened with shrimp skewers baked potato (which was cold like straight out of fridge) and shrimp skewers were left off. The second plate was ultimate seafood platter that had no hushpuppies or butterfly shrimp on the plate. This location on the beltline in Decatur al. has been this way for months. This time they did replace my shrimp skewers and butterfly shrimp and also gave a discount on the total. I have to travel 25 miles round trip to this location so it is inconvenient to return for them to correct the issues. Thank you.

I ordered a family size coleslaw and it’s half way full.. I could’ve spent less money on an individual side and probably got more.. food is cold. Didn’t get the battery crispies or my jalapeno poppers. I love captain ds so so much so I really hate that this is the service I’m getting at my home store in decatur al.

The most discusting service at the drive thru!!!! After I ask her to repeat the order, at the window, when everything was 360° as apposed to what we orderd,……As Marines always, trust their gut, my wife said it’ll be right as I was observing the bag exiting the drive thru!!!! Marine’s “GUT” Would be correct!!! Chicken for fish how difficult can it be?? 3pc. Meal shorted to 2pc. The other 2pc. Meal 1/2 & 1/2 “CHICKEN/FISH -……..NOT…KIDDING…YOU!!!!!! Trashy looking establishment, the employees looked lost in their scope of work and or service as well!!!! It’s my last try with this dump!!!! They locked the doors at 9pm but they don’t close until 10pm . I seen my order on the counter & the girl that answered the phone said that wasn’t my order, so what are you doing ?
