The family was craving chinese food, and normally my daughter likes this other particular place which unfortunately closes on Mondays along with other chinese restaurants in the area. We decided to take a chance on this one which is about a 20 minute drive. To our surprise all the food was excellent. It was fresh, hot, tasty, and catered to my wish of Young Chow fried rice made with white rice. Normally they use yellow rice. It was a very delicious experience.

While waiting for my order, a huge cockroach strolled back and forth on the middle of the dining area floor. I know most restaurants have these issues, however, after seeing it I lost my appetite and wasn’t willing to eat from here. I got the attention of the lady behind the counter and she ran out and stepped on it. The crunch was pretty loud, YUCK!!! She then picked it up with a tissue and tossed it in the garbage can behind the counter. I asked for my money back because I wasn’t going to take my food home and eat it after seeing & hearing this , it just turned my stomach. My food wasn’t ready but the lady faught me a little bit saying it probably came in from outside, I politely told her I saw where it came from (from near her area by the counter) and that I was in no mood to discuss it further and repeat my request of refunding my $24 for my order because I just wanted to leave at that point. She finally gave in and refunded my money. Needless to say, I have no intentions of ordering from here again because once you see it, you can’t un-see it. I was going to go to a different type of restaurant in the area, however, what’s going to be different at other places? Not much I thought, so I ended up going back home and made a sandwich. No restaurant is perfect, I know, but eat here at your own risk.

I ordered the Dragon & Phoenix and what a disappointment; The General Tso’s Chicken was either empty flour or chewy chicken, all the ends of approximately 5 shrimp had an odd texture; mushy. I had to spit out each shrimp and I couldn’t eat any of the chicken, definitely a waste of $18.99. I also ordered two pork egg rolls which was good but the packaged mustard tasted old. The owner was very nice. I won’t be having chinese food for a very long time.
