First and foremost, super friendly staff that have been accommodating for every meal I have had here. Food is a great take on Filipino done West Coast style. Has become a weekly lunch staple.

We stopped by Flip Sigi ove the weekend. It’s a very unconventional spot, as it sits in the lobby space of a apartment building. Residents walk in and out while we dine at the restaurant. There’s also the laundry room at the front left side of the store. All these components make it slightly uncomfortable as diners are mot used to such environment.

While the staff was great and the place was beautiful, I was greeted by a list of what they didn’t have.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant. It was very different and was excited. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. The restaurant is attached to an apartment building. I walked into a cute restaurant. I went to the counter and ordered with a nice man. He started out by telling me all the things they did not have and there was quite a few. I couldn’t even try the fries because there were none. I ended up ordering the adobo chicken burrito. As I waited more people came in and I overheard him tell customers more things they ran out of. Mind you it was only 12pm. When my burrito came out it looked good. I dug in and it wasn’t bad. The chicken wasn’t portioned evenly in the burrito. It was just ok. Overall I had an ok experience.

I really don’t like leaving bad reviews of a place that is run by such friendly staff that I want to succeed. However, everything I’ve had here has been very bland. It’s strange because all the other Filipino food I’ve had (I’m married to a Filipino; I’ve had a lot!) has been extremely flavorful, which is what I love about it. I’m not sure if it’s because they’re trying to appeal to the masses, but there is definitely something missing here. It’s a shame because I want to love it.

This is the second flipsigi location I’ve tried but this branch is underwhelming. The garlic fried rice lacks salt and garlic so it is essentially plain. Plus, the rice bowl is cold, not enough longganisa, and had an overwhelming amount of scallions. The crunchwrap saved the meal as it was warm and up to par with the burritos I had from the Flipsigi in 7th avenue. Service is good but I hope the food could be better.

The Cali burrito is addicting lol. Had the longanisa poutine and it’s also good. It’s very cozy and I think it’s the main floor of a apartment building which I thought was unique.
