Let me start by saying that the staff In Scratch were great. They were very smiley and friendly. When we walked in it had a very no-frills feel which we typically love. Photos from New York and Paris on the walls. The floors were sticky, ceiling tiles were water stained, we were OK with all of that. We placed our order and they were out of pork chops which happens and we were OK with that. We waited for at least a half an hour for our meal they were quite busy lots and lots of takeout orders. This is where things started to go downhill fast. A couple of the meals were supposed to be served with cornbread they ran out of that as well.. o

The minute you open the menu, it speaks to you. When my eyes beheld the chicken and waffles the menu shouted at me. I ordered it quickly with collards and Mac and cheese. What a heavenly delicious meal. The waffles were piping hot, the chicken breast was lightly fried with the perfect peppery coating. The collards were superbly cooked and seasoned the mac and cheese even outdoes my mother’s (sorry Mom). If you are looking for a place for food that will just reach out give you a hug while making your taste buds dance for joy, get yourself over to From Scratch. I know you will be happy you did

This was my third visit. First I got the fish dinner, second I did fish and shrimp dinner, this time I ordered just the shrimp dinner. The food is good but the consistency is not. I ordered food to get home and my order was not right. They serve rice with gravy with all their dinners but I’m not a fan. So I ask about substituting and was told I can with dressing or mashed potatoes. They weren’t the best but it was better than the rice. This time I ordered the dressing as a sub. I made it home to rice. It was about an hour til closing time so I just chucked it as a loss. I’d go again to try one more time to see how it goes. The collards are so good though. Unfortunately they didn’t have any. I hate to throw out food but I had to Chuck the rice. Everything else was good. I think it would have been better had the staff did better with communicating with each other. My husband was sitting waiting on an order and didn’t tell the other staff would be aware and our order was sitting at the counter and no one told him. That’s why I’m giving 3 stars.

We have visited this restaurant many times that the waitresses knew us and would tell us, “your table is waiting for you.” The staff and chef was always pleasant and the food was really good. We don’t live in the area and only eat here when we come to visit family or go to church. Today, was not that day. There was a difference. I’m not sure if management changed but none of the waitresses or cooks we know and enjoyed seeing was there. The atmosphere wasn’t the same. It became so unbearable that I and a couple visiting for the first time had to ask for our money back before receiving our meal. I don’t know what happened but I do know I WILL NOT be returning back! I rated it a 1 because I couldn’t leave the box empty.

Outstanding! From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but once inside we were greeted with attentive wait staff and listened to the grooves of cool jazz while we waited for our home cooked deliciousness. We both got the catfish dinner, which were excellent. We could tell they were freshly prepared to order. Well worth the wait and will definitely return!

Service was horrible, according to the staff they’re not supposed to have done customers. So everything is served in to-go containers and there’s no napkins salt pepper or anything on any of the tables. Inside is run down and looks like it’s from the 60s. They don’t want people eating there they should listed as carry out only and take out the tables. The food was pretty good and tasty, definitely will not be going back though. Two stars for the food.

I just tried From Scratch Kitchen for the first time tonight and I have to say the food was fantastic. I ordered the $5 chicken tender basket and my girlfriend ordered the BBQ chicken dinner with candied yams and fries.
