We just found this little gem in Dunedin and absolutely loved it. The best Mexican food we’ve found in Florida. Food was delicious & menu items are named after the regions where the recipes are from. Chips are fresh fried just for you! Beer was ice cold & the staff was very friendly! Put this at the top of your list!!!

If you want authentic, fresh and homemade Mexican cuisine… look no further. Happy Cactus is by far my favorite restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. They recently added to their menu and they now have Tortas. I can’t say enough good things about the Happy Cactus so go try it for yourself, you will be glad you did!

Absolutely delicious. My girlfriend will eat Mexican any time of the day or night. If it was up to her that’s all we would eat for the rest of our lives. So when I tell you she’s had Mexican at almost every restaurant in Tampa, it’s not a joke.

Believe all the 5-Star reviews! Wanted good Mexican food after a day on Honeymoon Island and found this place. It’s in a strip mall next to a bingo hall, but don’t let that turn you away. The quality of food, choices, and service were all stellar. I had enchiladas and my wife had a vegetable quesadilla. We also had an order of their homemade guacamole, which was amazing. Our happy energetic server brought out the customary complimentary basket of chips with salsa, but the chips were anything but customary. They were the best homemade Mexican restaurant chips that we have ever had… crispy, fresh, had that unmistakable freshly made authentic on the spot flavor, and not at all greasy – simply perfect. The bathrooms at this restaurant were impeccably clean and had beautiful Mexican art ceramic wash bowls. I poked my head into the order counter and gave the cooks and kitchen staff a thumbs-up. They were all smiling and humbled in receiving the compliment.

For some reason, Pinellas has lost many good Mexican restaurants over the past two decades. We have been having a hard time finding a sit down restaurant with a god choice of beer. Read all the great reviews on Happy Cactus, and figured give it a try. I had the steak fajita and my wife had steak tacos. We liked them but, I can’t personally say they re the best I ever had. They seemed like they were precooked and left in a steamer to handle busy times, maybe. I like my steak seared with fresh grill marks on them. Prices were fair, not too high not too low, sacrificing quality. Chips/salsa seemed homemade, warm soft and crispy. Salsa is mild, but we didn’t ask if it could be spicier. Other reviews mentioned you have to ask for chips and salsa or they do not bring them, so we asked immediately 🙂 A few different craft beers at reasonable prices. We would go back and try some of their other entrees’
