Cute, 50’s themes grill down to it’s festive decor and music. Burgers, dogs, chicken sandwich to speciality fried pickles to homemade, grilled pimento cheese sandwiches. Homemade lemon, orangeades and milkshakes and concretes but cream machine down so didn’t get to try one. Children’s menu and specials, friendly, wonderful, attentive staff. Great place for a quick bite or dinner with the family. A few snafus with our order but quickly rectified. Will be back!! Wheel chair accessible…

Return visit once again to this location. Chicken philly set a new bar for excellence. Bacon double cheeseburger was well prepared with fresh condiments. Staff was attentive and with purpose. Great job, guys. Management has really upped their game.

Ok so I have loved hwy 55 food for years, I was more than excited when we finally got 1 in Durham. But to be honest the ball was dropped fast and hard tonight 12/10/19 after entering and waiting for about 3 mins ( mind you there were 5 people inside all eating) before anyone even acknowledged that I was there, I placed my order partially before the young lady taking it ran off to another couple that had just stepped in. She sat them, took their order and got their drinks then returned to me. While taking my order she never asked if( i wanted fries or tots) or if it was to go. I sat and waited on my order with no drink and when she brought me my food it was in a bag but i was clearly siting at a table. after informing her that it was for here, she walks off and left me for about 5 more minutes before returning with my food still not asking if I wanted a drink. I finally said may I have a sweet tea please, which she quickly got. I ordered the lil cheese steak which comes with fries or tots and a drink. This (picture) is what I got. The fries were old and dropped back in grease to warm them, and the sandwich was a little slimy. I guess from being in the bag hot and steaming for 5 minutes. I hate to give you guys only 2 stars but if I am paying for it I expect only the best. At least my money’s worth. I will be returning here in Hope that my next visit will be better because I really like the food and maybe tonight was just off…

We have been to several other Hwy 55 locations, but this one failed to deliver. They were out of Pepsi and another soda. We waited a very long time for our food when they were not very busy. When the food finally arrives, my husband’s burger was overdone and crusty. My burger was to have sauteed mushrooms on it. They were so cold, it felt like they took canned mushrooms out of the refrigerator and put them on my burger. I handed one of the ice cold mushrooms to my waitress and she took it back to the cook. All around it was just not a good experience.

I haven’t been here in quite some time so I was eager to check it out simply for the sake of variety. Super pleased with the burger and fries that I was served. The burger was tasty and the bun held together even though there were a number of condiments on board. The fries were thin, crinkle cut, and fried to a slight crisp, just the way I like them. The staff was super, super friendly, smiling, and interested in how my meal was going. Thanks for a great experience!

This place has been on a steady decline and today was my last visit. Came in for shakes, but they were out of malt. I got my Daughter a kids meal, but they are out of cars to place them in. Guy cleaning windows has entire place smelling like Windex. Dining at it’s worst…

Wish I could give 0 stars. My wife and I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago. Back home, (Clinton, NC) Hwy 55 is always a treat! We relocated to Durham to find that this location was extremely different! When we arrived (3 hours before closing time), the outsides lights were off and the chairs were up as if they were closed. After walking in, we found the place to be very dirty with workers just standing around with no customers. We were immediately told “We’re not closed, sit where you want” First my wife ordered her usual Orange-aid which tasted terrible for some reason. She also had to return her hamburger steak 3x!!! The cook was noticeably pissed off and ended leaving for the night. Our waitress was kind and courteous enough to go back and cook my wife’s hamburger steak herself. We usually are big fans of Hwy 55 but this location will not receive another penny from me! I would honestly consider re-staffing.
