We stumbled upon this restaurant while on our walk. It seems like one of those mall family-owned business. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman who seemed to be the owner. The food was great and the service was awesome. I definitely recommend it! My only feedback and this might be a NYC thing, do restaurants not believe in soda machines or free refills?

I had very high hopes given the other reviews. Unlike others I did not have an authentic Indian food experience. The street view of the restaurant is a little off putting but we went in anyway. It’s is a long narrow space with one man waiting on the tables. He was friendly enough but not much of a talker. We placed our order for the vegetable sharing platter butter chicken and lamb rogan Josh. The butter naan and the papadums were very good as was the dip. The entrees were gelatinous in texture and low on authentic flavors.

The food is really delicious, well spiced, and there are options which are a novel take on some traditional Indian cuisine. Great value for delicious food. I loved the mushroom saag and the chicken tikka masala was quite delicious too. The salmon vindaloo was pretty good too, but I’m not quite sure how I feel about the novel tomato-y taste of their take on the vindaloo. The service is quick and very friendly. The atmosphere could be improved, but it isn’t bad or anything. Overall a great restaurant for a quick, delicious bite.

I have ordered take-out often at Karahi. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Food – delicious and full of flavor and fragrance. Special Requests re Spice Levels: Perfect. Ease of Ordering – can’t be beat. Delivery was more than prompt and friendly. I LOVE this restaurant.

Nice Indian restaurant. The kebabs appetizer was good and so was the chicken tikka masala.

Great host. Good Indian food. All regular option. Host is very accommodating with some customization. The only Indian place I saw with unlimited supply of rice.

Came for the lunch special and it was fantastic! The Chana Saag was delicious. This place has the best quality and prices I’ve found on the West Side.

This hole in the wall is all about textures and layers. As an aficionado of all South Asian food, this is a Manhattan gem. The price is reasonable. Don’t ask the proprietor what is best, it is all excellent. Give him direction about what you wish to eat: veggie, lamb, seafood or chicken; and then spice. He will help you. His level four spice is not too strong, it enhances the flavor: you will feel the layers of spice on your tongue.

I had the pleasure of visiting Karahi on a cold, rainy day in January. I had just come on a trip and was walking around the city when I was welcomed into the warm environment of the restaurant. The owner was very hospitable and went above and beyond with his service. We had a great conversation on the history of the restaurant and his guiding philosophy – one most South Asians would strongly agree with. Additionally, although I’m of Pakistani origin and he’s from Delhi, we were able to bond over our shared cuisine and history (in this case, chicken jalfrezi), and he even added extra spices to my dish! I will definitely be back when I’m back in New York and couldn’t recommend a better restaurant in the area, especially if you’re looking to get the most out of affordable food!

The best indian food I have had in the city. It’s a small place that is owned and operated by the sweetest indian man. I’ve gotten food from there like 6 times in the past two weeks and it has been consistently good. Their lunch menu prices are so good for the quality of the food. I would highly recommend. They also have really good and tender Lamb- the Lamb Vindaloo is a must, so it the butter chicken! Do not hesitate to come here 🙂
