La Casa López is hand’s-down my favorite Mexican restaurant in Winston. The food is always cooked wonderfully, the people are always super friendly and accommodating, and you just feel good while you’re there. I couldn’t tell you how many times I have eaten here. Their chori-queso is Superb and I love their carnitas.

I looked through the menu and ordered the tastiest menu item I could find. I decided to get the Carne Asada tacos and they came in a set of three. I also decided to get an appetizer dip and they gave me the option of two appetizer dips, either queso or guacamole. I decided to take the order home which took about 10 minutes to finish cooking. When I went home I was a little bit disappointed when I opened the container and saw that the tortilla wraps of the tacos were extremely dense yet also soft. The meat of the Carne Asada was also very tough and not as flavorful as expected. However the guacamole dip was fantastic. The guacamole was tangy yet also retained the classic avocado flavors. They also give complementary chips and salsa. The chips were high-quality tortilla chips but I wasn’t a fan of the salsas.

I love the food, but I don’t really care about that. The employees were very friendly and let us choose a seat. Of course, I sat in the booth. This restaurant has a great atmosphere! Also, I’m quite surprised they had paper straws!

I payed $40 for 2 mexican “torta Cubana” and the food was not what I was expecting at all when ordered over the phone one price was given and when when I got there to pick up the food another price was given .

They overcharged here! My family and I ate here for dinner and while the food was okay, service was okay also, when we went to pay, my husband said the bill seemed a bit much for what we had. I just kind of blew it off and didn’t think much of it since our server did mention getting shrimp added to my plate would be $5 extra. I was not aware they charged a refill fee so that was also on the bill. Well we paid and left, I got in the car and started doing the math and sure enough we had been overcharged. Reading through others reviews it looks like we’re not the only ones that this has happened to, so just a heads up to everyone and check your bill. We were just visiting the area but we definitely wouldn’t go back.
