This was really good food I would come here again. I enjoyed the Mayan Enchilada plate and I added Cilantro, Onions and fresh Jalapenos, the cheesey bean dip is a neat combination of beans and cheese, the guacamole is a different style than it is in Texas but I thought it tastes good.

Tried Maestros out today, and it was fabulous! Our server, Scarlett was so sweet and cheerful. She made great menu recommendations, was very attentive, even gave us to-go cups with soda while we sat around chatting even though we had already paid. The food was DELICIOUS and came out very quickly after we ordered. Can’t wait to come back here next time I’m in town!

Honestly, I’m not a big fan. The staff is always nice and they’re attentive, but the food hasn’t been great for me. The first time, there was a hair in the salsa. The second time, the plate my food was on had steam coming off it, but the food was lukewarm. This last time, I got the burrito California and the steak was burnt black.

this place may be the best restaurant food-wise that I’ve had in Portsmouth. fresh ingredients, original recipes, beautifully served and excellently made. the selection of other Mexican restaurants may be more plentiful, you won’t find a Chile rellano or an enchilada, but the focus on a more limited menu contributed a lot to the high quality of the food they do have.

I’ve tried many different Mexican restaurants across this country. I will say Maestros Mexican Grill is hands down the best I have been to. From the outside appearance to the more relaxing, home with family type of atmosphere all the way to the last bite of the more than generous portion of the freshest Mexican food I have eaten.

This is the best restaurant in Portsmouth and it’s not close. Fresh ingredients. Thoughtful chef. Friendly staff. Start with the tacos, then come back and explore the rest of the menu. You won’t be disappointed. Photo is the Hulkamania burrito.
