I finally got a chance to stop at McDowell’s Soul Food & BBQ and maaannnnn this food is good! Reminded me of my mother’s Gibsland, Louisiana cooking… simple but delicious! This is my definition of soul food.

It was the most dried unflavored southern food. There was nothing so southern about that food. No seasoning in any of the fish, “smothered pork chops” of ribs. The Mac and cheese was like they served me some old Mac n cheese and tried to add cheese in it and it was like they microwaved some old Mac n cheese cus the cheese was not even melted. I’m so disappointed in that food and spent over 60 dollars. What a waste of my money.. there collard greens…TERRIBLE everything was terrible I should’ve known when I seen teens cooking my food ♀️ ♀️ DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PLACE I SHOULD BE REFUNDED. Nothing southern soul food about there food and I gave them a tip which I shouldn’t have but I support any upcoming business but that will be my FIRST && LAST‼️‼️

Horrible service, as soon as I walked in the cook/cashier was on the phone using profanity, then she yells at me to shut the door ♂️, they must’ve changed the recipe for the catfish, because it had no flavor an d the red beans had a cinnamon flavor. I will never come back, I use to love this place, what happened ??? And as long as you keep that lady behind the counter or even on staff you’re going to lose more customers.

I brought my good girlfriend to McDowell today and everything was wonderful. This was my first time coming here since the pandemic and I wasn’t disappointed. I had the fried chicken and my girlfriend had the Ceasars Fish plate. Yummy!!! I definitely plan to come back. Service was good, food was excellent and the atmosphere was good.

I went a couple of weeks ago on the food was good. I wanted to leave a five-star review just to show some love. This is a small business and they are trying and the food is not bad at all. I liked it under the previous management and I like it under the new owners as well. It reminds me of southern food I grew up with. I’m glad this place is in business and I hope everyone can give them a try and will let them know how they can improve. I want to see businesses like this succeed and keep having tasty soul food options. I really love that they have vegetarian options as well.

I ordered from Uber eats. The driver was kind enough to inform me that the restaurant didn’t have the sweet corn that was ordered and paid for. I SUGGESTED a substitution. Once I received the order, I realized the order was still incorrect. I ordered cabbage and didn’t receive them. I ordered green beans and only received two bites worth. I DID NOT order mac and cheese, but it was included in my order. The red beans WERE EXTREMELY SALTY!!!!!!!!!! I can’t believe it. I’m from the south and know good soul food; THIS IS NOT IT. This is my third time being unimpressed with this restaurant. I can’t continue to support.

The chicken was straight up raw the corn bread was at least a week old and hard as a rock. Couldn’t even finish it because did i mention the chicken was raw?! and that mac and cheese was hard and gross the chef was smoking a cigarettes instead of making sure the food was right. Just nasty. their food tastes like being called the N word, just disrespectful.

I went there from the bbq chicken, greens, and cabbage in that comes w/cornbread. When I walked in, the place is so clean. The people that work there are so nice. And my goodness, the lady that take’s the order is such a sweetheart and very helpful. I truly enjoyed my food. I truly give this place a billion ⭐ star’s. I’ll be back for sure. ✌
