Mezcali is the brainchild of two best friends from Southern California who grew up skateboarding and satisfying their afternoon hunger pangs with Cali-Mex food. Some of our best memories were shared over a plate of carne asada fries and a couple shots of mezcal. We built Mezcali in homage to our experiences growing up in South Cali. While we can’t recreate Los Angeles in Downtown New York, we have done our best to bring you a slice of our love for everything Cali-Mex, but in the heart of Manhattan.

Came here for a happy hour/dinner with friends and it was a nice atmosphere, and the staff was attentive and welcoming. The food was good — we had the shrimp tacos, elote and a shrimp salad. The drinks were okay. They were a bit pricey and could have been a little bit stronger but refreshing and not too sweet. We had the margaritas and the mezcalitas.

We came here for dinner on Wed evening. The place wasn’t too busy but extremely loud as it seems to be a popular stop for a drink. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and the service was pretty quick.

the burger, vegan tacos and churros were absolutely amazing! definitely a 10/10, I’m telling you. it’s expensive and the music is extremely loud, but our server was very friendly and the food was definitely worth the noise.

The food was mid. The Brisket tacos were pretty bland in flavor, not the worst. The Tuna bites were extremely lacking in flavor and had more mango (?) than tuna. Waited like 20 minutes for them to tell me they didn’t have Apple Pay then tried to gaslight me that they already told me earlier, thanks to the guy next to me who confirmed that they never told me. The bartender was nice.

Good food and love the open space seating. A bit pricey on the drinks. Table is very sticky gave me feeling of unsanitary. We had Enchilada and crab Benedict which was good and quite filling.
