I was in the area and wanted to try something local and I found the Munchie’s on Google Maps. With so many good reviews, I had to try it and it was one of the best decisions I made during my 3000 mile road trip. Brenda, the owner, is a very nice person. I was the last customer in the restaurant so we had a chance to chat. I wanted to try the chicken but they were out, so go there early. They might run out of stuff much before the closing time. Brenda suggested oxtail which I never had before and I wanted to give it a try. It was amazing! First, I thought there was too much food and I was not going to be able to finish it. But it was so good, I cleaned everything; oxtail with rice, collard greens, potato salad. When I was there, another very nice person came: Coach Wells. We chatted little bit more. I will definitely come back to Munchie’s to have some great food and chat with some great people when/if I am in the area. Highly recommended!

We stumbled upon this amazing place in search of some authentic southern food. It was the best meal we had in Savannah. The portions are enormous, the staff is super friendly, and the food is incredible. I had the ribs, Mac n cheese and baked beans. The baked beans with ground beef and sausage may have been one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.

First time here since I’m in town and won’t be the last. Got the oxtail, red rice, greens and potato salad. Excellent food and service. They really pack the food in the platter. Me and my girl ate twice off the same platter. Food is so good it has you licking your fingers and wanting more. Best soul food in savannah.

They really know how to cook perfectly tender, moist meat. Delcious sides and super friendly to boot. HUUUGE portions. I wish I could stay another day in Savannah just to eat here again!

I was so pleased to find this spot just as a hurricane was feared to be rolling into Savannah… It was one of the only spots open, but I took home the best ribs I’ve ever had.

We stopped looking for some gullah or soul food after visiting the monument locally. We found this little spot and decided to give it a shot and it was wonderful. My wife and I split the Chicken & ribs and had a side of collards and Mac and cheese as well as the crab cake with shrimp. It was all worth the visit

My goodness. Finally a BBQ place I can eat and I’m extremely picky when it comestoBBQ. That sauce on the chicken was great. The smoked ribs and turkey was juicy and had flavor. The collar greens, mac n cheese, green beans and baked beans were amazing. Definitely coming back for the ox tail before I leave.

I guess everyone went on a day other than us. The smoked chicken & ribs where fine. I decided to get the oxtails. Portion for small pieces, fine, but no broth, gravy, nothing. Just meat & white rice. You know the flavors are also in the broth or gravy depending on how you cook them. I have never had left over oxtails. Everyone who cook elbow macaroni or any rice or pasta know that once it’s scorched just a little, throw the whole pot away, not literally, but the rice or pasta is OV!!! I guess the cook didn’t get that memo. No matter how much cheese you add, it’s a big, fat, NO!!! Why would you even try us like that. Greens where fine with that smokey meat taste, but that’s it. BTW, where was my cornbread or dinner roll when my other half got a slice of bread with his ribs/chicken. I will try again, someday .
