Next Door Pizza & Bar is brought to you by Douglas Coffin, who founded and ran Big Green Truck Pizza for 17 years. Since the trucks are housed directly behind the building, he admired this space, which housed the historic Humphrey’s Bar & Grill for years, and saw an opportunity to bring back some of that neighborly feeling, drawing on his own diverse New Haven experiences. In 2018, the idea for a Big Green Truck pizzeria evolved into something much more, reflected in the name: Next Door reflects the closeness & familiarity we all want in a neighborhood establishment with great staff to entertain family and friends! #seeyounextdoor

Caesar salad was terrific. Pizza even better. Pepe’s and Modern watch out. This place is fantastic. Ate in the front bar area which was very nice. Main dining room feels a bit ‘empty’. Back bar area seems ok. Eat in front. Our server who was also the bartender was right on top of things. Will definitely go there again. Also, many Uber Eats drivers picking up so word is out this pizza is exceptional. And, prices are very reasonable and you don’t feel like you’re in just a pizza joint. Plenty of other dinners on the menu.

Everything was very good. Our server was very nice. The tables are nice and spacious and so are the chairs. Comfy. Full bar with tv screens. Nice spot. Come check them out!

Next door has really good pizza!!! And everything else on the menu is good too. If you like Brussel sprouts this is the place….kids enjoyed a small cheese pizza and Mac and cheese. Place wasn’t busy sat right down and ordered our food. We will come again

Had a local recommended this place and it did not disappoint! I was glad to avoid the line at Pepe and head to Next Door. The pizza was thin, crispy, and tasty. Probably in the top 3 for places in New Haven. Definitely a spot for anyone wanting to avoid lines and experience a good pie

Not only is this the best place to get pizza in New Haven, I’ve had the pleasure of throwing a few parties here in the back area of the restaurant. They were amazing from service to food ! I am currently here with a group of about 20 on our annual pizza crawl. After eating at 8 other pizza spots around New Haven Next Door was stop #9. Doug treated us like true VIPs. Showing us the truck where it all started. We truly felt like he had welcomed us into his home. The pizza was amazing too, can not recommend enough. Thank you so much.

Best restaurant experience we’ve ever had, from top to bottom. We had clam pie from the other “big 3” spots around town and this was definitely a step ahead. No big lines, no entitlement, just a great restaurant through and through. Clams were fresh and moist, the crust was perfectly baked. Our waiter, Corey, was incredibly friendly, helpful, and fun. The owner, Doug, came around and chatted with us for a while and showed genuine concern for his business and his customers being over the top satisfied. We had the Buffalo cauliflower app, which was freshly fried and crispy, even the ranch and blue cheese were homemade and extraordinary. We also got the potato pizza with eggplant instead of bacon, as we don’t eat meat, and it was the best pizza I’ve ever had. The potatoes were fluffy, flavorful, and to die for! Lastly we had the ice cream sandwich for dessert and it was also one of the best desserts I’ve had. Everything was made with such care and love, we were treated with tremendous respect and appreciation, and I just can’t recommend this place enough!

Stopped in to Next Door for dinner and drinks with a group of co-workers. Fantastic swift greeting from staff. We sat at the bar and were immediately given menus. Drink options and suggestions were plentiful. We ordered the calamari, vegi bowl, burrata, wings, a burger and dessert. Everything was so good! 10/10 recommend. We were all able to park in the lot. Bathrooms and tables were very clean. We’re all even given our own tab which was so easy and thoughtful! pricing was very fair. We will be back!
