Place is really small and got completely full on a Sunday night, so make reservations. However they’re open until 1am, which is a big plus in my book. Also, okonomiyaki is no longer on the menu, but the tonpeiyaki is fantastic and close enough to the same thing. Overall we loved the food and the service and would recommend this to anyone, especially if you’re looking for late night eats.

Hidden gem. Food is amazing and great price for the quality and taste of the food. Reminds me of the amazing food I had in Japan. Highly recommend. Make reservations if possible. Limited seating and it can get busy.

Small place tucked in the middle of mccully shopping center. We were lucky to get in without reservations and not much of a wait. People here usually sit, drink and eat for long periods of time.

The best meal we’ve had in months! To start off, I had the Yuzu (Japanese lemon) cocktail (awesome!), while the others had draft Asahi’s. For pupu’s (appetizers), we had deep fried oysters (2x – 8 out of 10 rating – crispy on the outside, moist on the inside – perfecto), spicy ahi poke (2x – 9/10 – tasted like it came right off the boat fresh), battered ahi (crispy, but bland and forgettable – 6/10). For entrées, we split an ahi sushi roll (8/10), Sukiyaki beef (10/10 – perhaps the best Sukiyaki I’ve had), and 2x Angus beefsteaks (8/10 – very finely flavored, but not the best Angus I’ve had). But taken together, there were no bad dishes, and only one bland dish, while all the others were at least excellent. So overall, I would rate it 9/10 – I nudged it up a point because the prices were more then fair. There were four of us – nine dishes, five beers, two cocktails, one coke, and the total was only $190. Definitely recommended.

No reservations were required and we were able to dine in. The food was good and it came out quick. The mentaiko pizza had less mentaiko then we expected, but most of our group couls taste it. The grilled gyoza was crispy and soft. Chicken Nanban and Ginger Pork were tasty as expected. The flavors of the Okonomiya we good, but it was more batter and less cabbage than anticipated. Always happy when there is Mozuku on the menu! But over all the food was good and the prices are reasonable.

Top notch service, food, and authentic atmosphere. Honolulu is so lucky to have this gem! Some items are pricy but this place is worth it!

Amazing food and service! All of the sauces were made in-house and delicious. Our server was a pro – he was doing everything from hosting to making drinks. Our water glasses were never empty and we didn’t wait long for anything. Make a reservation early though, they fill up quick!

Definitely feels like you’re in an authentic japanese restaurant. Food is good and reasonably priced. And, there is a late night happy hour that starts at 9 pm. I wish they had more appetizers or smaller dishes, but the ones they have are good.

The service sucked. I went in without a reservation, fully ready to wait for a table. The host/server lady just didn’t wanna help me at all. She just told me well the tables are all full so. probably expecting me to just leave and find another restaurant. i told her I’ll wait and she goes well you can put your name on the waitlist but idk how long you gun be waiting. Probably should just left right there and then but I ended up waiting for 15 min until a table emptied up. another server came by to take the orders. Btw whatever food photos you see on Google are probably old. They’ve since changed their menu and are serving much less variety of foods. I was told the okonomiyaki takes about 20-25 min to complete but ended up taking 1 hr. The same hostess lady brought our food over but gave it to another table. Another time she put the food on the table then took it away because she “forgot something”. At this point it’s just pathetic and laughable. The food was just mehhh and not worth it after all that time waiting for it. Won’t return.
