I haven’t been here for a while. Surprisingly their service improved! Servers are more friendly than before. Came here after movie and enjoy dinner with family. Sadly my favorite blueberry mochi sold out today. Onion pork chop tastes and tiger prawns with rice noodle it’s a must order too! Great interior design and many seating areas.

We’ve missed having a good dim sum place on the Peninsula and now we have a new favorite. It’s been at Hillsdale Mall for 2 years and we went for the first time tonight. While it serves dim sum for lunch, and has a limited dim sum menu in the afternoon, they have a full menu for dinner as well.

My friend and I arrived at Palette around 5pm. We did not have a reservation, but please make one if you come in groups larger than 2, or cannot sit at the bar. I found the menu quite interesting, since it was elevated Chinese dishes. We ended up ordering the Truffle Peking duck fried rice, the Shui Mai sampler, the Xiao Long Bao sampler and the Abalone Longevity Noodles. Each dish was unique and interesting. The portion sizes are quite filling for the rice and noodles and we took extra back with us. I enjoyed all the dishes, but I found the Peking Duck fried rice was my favorite. I would definitely recommend going to Palette if you have the chance.

Pretty good dimsums and other Sichuan dishes. I liked the XLB sampler more than the shumai sampler. The fried rice was a huge portion and delicious except it could do with less oil. The Sichuan style green beans were salty and spicy, quite tasty and my favorite. We also ordered the blueberry fried mochi dessert which was not too sweet and a good palate cleanser. Jasmine tea was really fragrant and loved the aroma of it. A gratuity of 18% is automatically added to the bill. Lovely ambience for a mall restaurant.

Modern take on dim sum with a hefty price tag. Set in a sleek and sophisticated atmosphere, Palette serves up some very artistic dishes. The dishes are plated beautifully. However, the taste and service do not match the presentation. The dishes were average to decent, but when you factor in the price…thoughts of overpriced, overhyped and overrated come to mind. Service was also mediocre. Dishes came out sporadically and were basically thrown on our table in front of us. Here is a perfect example: we ordered four orders of the soft shell crab crepes and two of the orders were delivered at the beginning of our meal, but the last two orders were not brought out until well after we had already asked for the bill.

The food is good but if you want true dim sum, go somewhere else. I personally do not appreciate the twist they do to the dim sum, it does not improve the taste.

My dining experience at Palette Dimsum was a delightful fusion of tradition and creativity. The Xing Long Bao was a standout, with its delicate dumpling skin and flavorful filling. The highlight, however, was the softshell crab rice, which was incredibly delicious and left me craving for more. It was a perfect blend of textures and flavors that showcased the restaurant’s culinary expertise!!

If you want dim sum with a great presentation, come here. Otherwise, the taste doesn’t match the presentation. The dishes were average and very overpriced. Also, be prepared for a long wait on the weekends. I prefer Koi over Palette.
