I love BBQ sandwiches but not here. Stopped in for lunch, place was packed so maybe it’s me. The sandwich was almost tasteless the sauce was extremely thin and both kinds tasted the same with little to no flavor. I got mine w/slaw, slaw, meat, and bun all had same texture. I think it’s my first and last time. I may stop by in a few months to see if it’s any better

Ike Ridgeway is the owner and Lead chef at shines BBQ. He comes from a long line of great legendary local Cooks. I first ate his granddad Shine’s famous smoked chicken halves when I was just a young boy and my dad was helping with the Fyffe athletic club. Shine and many other men were sitting around a smoke pit cooking roasted chicken halves for the football team and let me tell you I was in love. I ate that family’s food many times throughout the years and not once was it ever bad. In fact, it was always amazing and I left licking my fingertips. Ike has taken that long family tradition and molded it into a modern Small Town Restaurant that fits the community of Fyffe, and DeKalb County in general, to an absolute T. It has a great small town feel to it and the food is just amazing like I said. He took all the old recipes of his dad and Granddad and has added many new twists of his own to it. The street corn is amazing the smoked chicken halves are amazing and I am yet to try the ribs at the restaurant although I’ve eaten his ribs many times before. This place is just as great as I knew it would be when I heard Ike was getting a restaurant. Five full Stars to Shine’s BBQ and I recommend anyone stop by and eat at any time of day and especially before a Fyffe football game. Go Big Red and go Shine’s barbecue . great job, Ike.

Randomly found this place while traveling for work today. The food was awesome!!! I had the brisket and it was very juicy. The fries were some of the best I have ever had. They put a rub on them that is sweet and salty. Really good. One thing they do need is more BBQ sauce options. Only one I saw was one option and it was red vinegar style. Just not for me but it was still ok. I will be back for my next business trip.

BBQ was not up to our standards, it had no taste. Chicken fingers were just so so. The sauce with the chicken was horrible.

The worst BBQ I have ever had. Everything is cold on all three meals. Price was fair but service and food was horrible.

“Pulled pork” means you pull the pork away from the fat. (Smoked correctly and there will be very little to begin with) But the bbq plate I received…half the portion were chunks of inedible fat. I feel like anyone who gives this place more than 2 stars just doesn’t know what good BBQ pork tastes like.

Worst BBQ stuffed potato ever. They didn’t even have butter and sour cream and way too much cheese sauce, hardly any BBQ on it. The chicken fingers were cold, dry and tough. Fries were good though. Way too expensive for bad food.

I’m pretty disappointed. I’ve been waiting for Shines to open with their new building and I’ve been very excited but I am not happy with it at all! the girls working the window acted like they absolutely did not want to be there and they seemed to have zero skills and experience in customer service. I ordered three bbq potatoes and one pork chop plate. the bbq potatoes are $10 a piece. there was barely any shredded pork on the potato at all, no slaw, and all of the cheese was on the outside of the aluminum foil. so I paid $10 for a basic smoked potato with barely any meat and cheese. I live maybe 2 minutes from Shines and I usually drive to rainsville or henagar to get bbq so I was really excited about this place but now I think I’d rather just drive the distance. the food will be worth it at least.
