It’s really not worth the $. We had sushi experience ($150 -$200 per person). We spent $400+ last night… the sashimi were pre-cut. Chef took out a plate with plastic cover, all sashimi were cutter… he just put it onto everyone’s plate.. really??? Chef has some hiccup of introducing his own meal… not sure if it’s nervous? Or it’s the new dish for him….?

Some of the best sushi my wife and I have EVER eaten. Our server was fantastic as well. When I’m in the area, I will go there again. It was recommended to us by someone and it was totally worth it!

The tasting menu isn’t very good. The amuse bouche was a nonalcoholic cocktail and the lobster in the lobster salad did not taste fresh, like it was going bad or something. Some of the other courses were also unpalatable, like the tomato ceviche. I am usually pretty open minded about food but it was just not good and felt like a waste of money.

Solo dinner here, sat at the bar. Super clean, beautiful presentation and I forget what cocktail I had but it was excellent. Great vibe, dark, not too dark.

Mixed reactions from this spot, which leans into trendy and is trying hard. Service is difficult to get right especially at higher price points. Ours had a strange twist: an attentive service that was ice cold. Some general formality is maybe to be expected in an upscale Japanese place, but this was less neutral and more stiff, which made for an awkward stop and go for me and my date. A shout out to the busser, who mostly got it right, so maybe they’ll fine-tune it. Overall good food with Bluefin tuna appetizer being a clear standout. Plus, it’s a full bar. Not for sushi purists, but depending on your priorities give it a go.

Wow what an incredible dinner tonight at Sushi Sato. I attended the soft opening event on 10/26. I went in with high expectations, since it’s the same team behind the sushi Hon restaurant I frequent in the mission, and my expectations were very much exceeded. Food, drinks and dining experience were all on point. My favorites are the Waygu roast, scallop crudo and the Rakuen drink. Overall a very Well balanced meal with one of a kind drink options. Did I mention the Rakuen. flavor bomb. I’m def coming back for the grand opening next week. What a great addition to the Polk st eats and SF. Congrats to the Sato team and thanks for continuing to innovate the food world in SF!

Had dinner here at Valentine’s Day. The food was okay, but service was definitely chaos. We were sitting at the bar, waited 2 hours but only had half of the menu, which was three dishes. They only offered set menu for vday but it was not mentioned during reservation. Waiters also brought the wrong food twice. We had to miss our next appointment. It seems that the restaurant was not able to handle the volume due to added tables at the bar.

A group of 5 of us went to Sushi Sato on Saturday night for the Chefs tasting menu. The quality of the fish was solid (the rice could have been better). We would not recommend the $35 add on with Caviar, Toro, and Uni. The handroll was soggy by the time it arrived and it was not worth the price point. The lobster salad and jelly tasting was mediocre. The risotto was good!
