Food was great, service was even better. I have been going to SushiYa for years and have yet to be disappointed! Every server seems to be extremely knowledgable of the menu, and I have always been greeted with a warm smile. With many sushi options in the Kalamazoo Portage area I have found that none compare to SushiYa!!!

First time we had takeout from here it was great. Second time it was terrible, it came in bowls and kept falling apart, we basically had to eat with spoons. Figuring it was just a bad takeout experience we decided to dine in last week. Walked in and the place was empty. Everything we tried to order for an appetizer they didn’t have. The server was more interested in playing on her iPad and the chef just kept dicing green onions. After sitting at our table like idiots waiting for service we decided to leave. They didn’t have a care in the world when we checked out only paying for a soda. No wonder the place was empty. Went next door for Thai food. Much better experience. Next time I want sushi I’ll drive to Portage.

2 rolls cut into 12 uneven pieces and a cup of soup cost me$15. Other sushi places in town give you 3 rolls/24 pieces and a cup of soup for that price. It was fast, but disappointed in my experience here.

I just love how fresh sushi is over there. Although the price is above my grade from time to time I treat myself over there and it is always fast well done and fresh. The new location is not as beautiful as the one downtown but I do prefer the new location for convinience.

AMAZING FOOD! I’ve only tried their sushi and me and my boyfriend have basically tried everything on their menu. You can NOT go wrong with this place. The food is amazingly delicious, their service is good, and the atmosphere is nice as well. But make sure you know what time they open and close. Currently they open at 4pm so..its not like you can wake up and go chow down on some sushi. The regular rolls (about 5-6 pieces) can cost around $6-8 maybe. The specialty sushi (8-10 pieces) can cost around $10-18. I would recommend this place to ANYONE! Even if you say you dont like sushi.. I think Sushiya will make you change your mind 😉 Give it a try.

Sushi was good, lots of choices but not too many for vegetarians. I was disappointed when my rolls came out on the same plate as my friends which had fish and cream cheese and had to eat around them (I am a vegan). The service was also very slow and not helpful, a different waitress tended to my table more than our actual server.

The food was Amazingly delicious. I had the white Dragon rolls and I loved it. The service was so welcoming too. I will surely eat there again.

It is always a blast to come here. Sushi is my dinner of choice, so when we travel (whether for pleasure or work) I tend to visit local Sushi places. From California to the Caribbean, this Sushi is near my top for quality, flavor, and flavor combinations.

Both food and service was fantastic. Huge selection of sushi with reasonable prices for what you are getting.

Very good sushi. They made my 6 year old daughter chicken tempura, which isn’t even on the menu. Extremely nice people and great service.
