Cute local bar. We have been coming here for several years. The food is good, the drinks are great & the bartenders are really attentive. The upstairs is a nice vibe when it’s open but we usually sit downstairs because it feels more intimate, date feel. My husband and I enjoy dropping in to unwind without our kids.

Overall a pleasant experience. Service was excellent and the place was super busy so you do have a time constraint (if you are part of a chatty group :)) on how long you can spend there. We spent 3 hours there on a Thursday evening and had to leave due to the next reservation.

Seated at 7:15 PM and entrées did not arrive until 8:55. Pork belly appetizer was dry and lacked flavor. Ordered the duck aujus but there was no aujus and it was dry and it was also missing the kale and toasted pecans it was supposed to come with. The bar was out of several ingredients needed for both of of the mixed drinks I wanted. Hubs had the pork chop which was cooked perfectly and was flavorful but again a little dry, thank goodness for the gravy. The hostess was kind and we were seated immediately for our reservation. The ambience was very nice and the place was bustling. The wait staff was professional. The plating was very elegant. We were super excited to try it after hearing great things from friends and reading great reviews but unfortunately it didn’t live up to its reputation for our visit.

Always a good experience: creative menu and drinks, friendly staff, great atmosphere to relax. When I have guests from out of town this is one of my go-to’s. Places like this make Somerville unique (and delicious). The Bang dumplings are little flavor bombs and they make the best lobster rolls. On my last visit my friend and I shared a charcuterie board that was thoughtfully filled with a variety of meats, cheeses, and sweet and savory accompaniments.

My favorite part was that my steak was cooked perfectly. So the entrée gets 5 stars, the apps were a huge disappointment. The chicken dumplings (dumplings featured so prominently on their menu), seemed like frozen dumplings not made in-house and they are charging $3.75 per tiny dumpling! even if they are making them in house, there’s no need to because they tasted exactly like frozen dumplings you can buy at Costco or Trader Joe’s. I expected something homemade for the price. The sauces served with oysters were bad but the oysters being only $3 each, at least each oyster was cheaper than each tiny chicken dumpling they served. Service was rushed she hovered throughout the meal and picked the check up as soon as it was signed instead of waiting. We were in and out in about an hour, not lingering at all, still rushed. I had two different drinks and didn’t like either. I would just get wine if I were to ever go back. As far as the ambience, we sat in the basement and the lights were set very low everything just seemed dark and dingy. It was so dark the security camera 6’ from my face had its infrared night vision beaming down on me the entire time. The bathroom was a mess. There are so many places to eat, the great steak they served hardly makes it worth coming back here. I would not be so critical of this place if not for the prices they charge. When you’re charging 5 star prices, you need to deliver on expectations. I think someone could go here have the steak, a glass of wine, sit at the bar, and have a decent experience. But if you go for full service, and compare it to similarly priced restaurants, you would expect more.

Love this restaurant and bar. Always welcomed with a smile. The bartenders have an amazing array of cocktails on the menu. As mixologists they can work with you to customize for your palate. The ambience is warm. The acoustics are fabulous; whether in the bar or at a table you CAN hear your friends without disturbance which is essential to a fabulous dinner date or celebration with friends. Although the menu appears limited, it’s not! Every dish is amazing. There are always fabulous and mouth watering specials. The only complaint: they ran out of last nights scallop special, which three of six of us ordered. My personal favorite is the duck which is seasonally prepared and always prepared perfectly. My favorite!
