Our family and friends (when visiting) have been going to Via Veneto for 3 years. This is a great spot. The food is tasty and the pizza is top-notch (I can say this having been a pizza maker in several Italian restaurants many moons ago). Chicken parm and penne lenzi are also our go-to choices.

Until Via Veneto, I had never had the dubious pleasure of steamed bread. When a busboy plunks a couple pieces of damp baguette in front of you, and avoids looking you in the eye, that should tell you the story of meal you’re about to eat. This is a tale of disappointment from about a week ago:

Food was very bland, which included the calamari, chicken parmesan, and the manicotti. Decor was dated and worn. Definitely not worth the cost.

Wonderful experience! The food was on point and you can tell it was all made from scratch. Loved hearing Italian actually being spoken, gave me a little homesickness for Europe but in a good way.

I cannot convey how terrible the food was. Not even mediocre for an American Italian restaurant. Overcooked pasta, bland sauce and terribly cooked protein. Really awful. Sorry to be blunt but this is not acceptable anywhere. I live independent restaurant but cannot support this one.

We’ve been going to this restaurant for 20+ years and this is one great neighborhood Italian eatery. NEVER had a bad meal there. Great place to meet friends

Called ahead several days in advance to discuss special dietary needs, was told by manager that they could accommodate. They did not accommodate and made us something extremely basic with old mushy vegetables.

I do not like this place. It feels dirty inside. It smells stale. The man who set the table and brought the food was rude. The bread is cheap and tasteless. The Coke was flat. My chicken was floating in the sauce. The iceberg lettuce salad was like soup – way too much dressing. I think the kitchen’s policy is to smother the food in sauce and hope the customer doesn’t realize it’s the essence of mediocrity.

Sub, sub par Italian food. Pasta was very overcooked, sausages were burnt, chicken francese was dry and unappetizing. Overall a disaster and very expensive for the quality.
