At our Richmond, VA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The food is quite good and inexpensive. The service and atmosphere are great for a fast food type place. It isn’t fancy, but it’s clean (especially for a fast food restaurant), not horribly loud, and comfortable. It’s good for a quick and tasty seafood meal. Personally, I love the hush puppies, the fried fish, and the grilled tilapia. The shrimp is also quite delicious. This is actually the only fast food restaurant my household gets for family dinner.

This is my big fish sandwich… and my battered fish was slimy and doughy very nasty and the lady at the window was rude the tartar sauce smells like it’s been sitting in the refrigerator for about three months it stunk so bad it had this horrific odor coming from it the chicken tenders we’re so hard I thought I broke one of my teeth!!! I try not to go to restaurants right before they close, but I rolled through the drive-thru with just a few minutes left before 10 p.m. a few weeks ago, and they were very friendly and cooked our food fresh. I thought the flavor and value was better than Long John Silvers.

Came here for lunch and ordered for carryout. Little long of a wait to get our food today as our food kept sitting up there on the tray. Then was missing a side on one of the lunch. The young lady told the guy in the back & he corrected it. But our food sat up there again until someone finally handed it back to us. For the wait, the food was just okay, not as good as usual.

This Captain D’s has improved in the past few months. It’s now well-run, clean (including the bathroom), and has a good staff. The fish dinner, cole slaw and hush puppies were very good. Don’t forget the Pecan Pie.

Terrible. The bread was hard/stale, the drink lid came off, spilled on my table & lemonade too sweet. The Talapia was burnt! I’ve been a customer for years. I will NOT return to the Midlothian turnpike/turner rd location in Chesterfield County Virginia!
