The BEST chicken strips around! Tender, juicy and a great crunchy crisp! The chili is amazing on the chili cheese fries! The fries are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Pizza was phenomenal! The Shelton’s CBR (chicken bacon ranch) is a fabulous choice. The decor was rustic and contemporary. The bathrooms were clean. We are coming back! Service was friendly and fast.

A really unique place with a lot of history. One of the Shelton Brothers met his end at this location. The Sheltons kept Capone out of Peoria. The pizza was good. A good thin crust that was done. The cheese was done as well. They go a bit heavy on the cheese. Overall, very nice. The staff was great. Friendly bunch. We ordered some nachos too, but they were not what I was expecting. Cozy, faux rustic place.

(Updated 4/7/18) After stopping several more times for drinks and food I’ve upgraded my 4 star to a 5. Pizza has gotten even better. I’ve never received subpar food or gotten the impression the staff didn’t care about the product they’re putting out. Toppings are high quality and piled on! We have added Sheltons to one of our regular stops.

So my tenderloin was absolutely amazing, and I have been to this restaurant many times, but always get the chicken bacon ranch pizza. I tried something new, and was not disappointed, my friend also said that her Philly cheese steak was very good. I will say that the service was slow, but it was not because the waitress was not trying her best, she simply did not have any help for the first hour that we were there. The place got very busy, with larger groups, and again, the waitress tried her very best. I will not take away stars from this review based on the slow service, because it was not due to the waitress simply not caring. I also understand that staffing is probably very hard right now, because it was crazy from 5:00 to 8:00, and then after 8:00 we were the only two people in there. As we left close to 9:00, there was still nobody else in there. But I will say to the owners of this establishment; I would say that between 5:00 to 8:00 on a Saturday night you need to have more than one server. Eventually there were two other women that started to help, but by then most of us had waited a really long time for our food and everything else. Nobody complained, everyone was very polite and patient, but I worry that it may affect someone’s decision to come back to this place. The food is always outstanding, absolutely no complaints, just maybe an extra server for those busy times. Otherwise, I will continue to eat here and give them my money, because the food really is that good.

Shelton’s is a clean, welcoming, and friendly place! Best chicken in town. Don’t forget to try their Tyler Sauce it’s their special sauce for a reason! Great selection of food and drinks. Good for a family meal or late night drinks and chow. Don’t hesitate to stop by and give them a try! They don’t disappoint. Awesome historical building with quite the story!!
