This place is a hidden treasure in my opinion, and underrated. The Onion soup is beyond amazing. I get it every time. I’ve been here dozens of times, tried numerous things, and have always enjoyed everything I’ve ordered. It’s casual, but it is amazing food with a reasonable price. Downstairs at the Rathskellar is the place to go (if you’re very tall, might have to duck) but it’s where the true atmosphere is. Staff are very friendly. I also chuckle when I go to the restroom and there’s an old school sign to pay $0.05 to use the toilet. I usually order beer, but their cocktail menu is extensive and posted on a chalkboard. Highly recommend!

A spur of the moment stop. Always drove by and was wondering how good of a hotel and/or restaurant. The history goes back to 1925. They have a bar downstairs while a more formal restaurant upstairs. The menu is the same for either one. This establishment showed its age. Today, was at the lower bar. We had an Old Fashioned and a beer. We started with the Calamari which was floured and Old Bay seasoning. It was okay but, the spicy marinara made up for it. The port cheddar cheeseburger was overcooked. I had the prime rib sandwich which was very tasty. They do have specials and a private parking lot.

Great home town service, good character in a beautiful old building. A lot of selections to please a crowd. Soup amd salads all great. Chicken cordon blue over the meatloaf, chicken parm was good chicken with bland sauce. We would come back again. Burgers looked great, next time!

Consistent, quality, elevated bar food. Solid drink selection. Incredible service. Lots of value for your dollar. I grew up in Dunellen and this is the best eats in town. This will be my first stop every time I return. A truly local spot. They really give back to the community.

The go to spot in town, everything they make is fantastic. They have a great beer selection, both on tap and in bottle, and their rotating specials help keep the menu fresh. They have great burgers and wings, but also an interesting lobster reuben that is a favorite. The Rathskellar (downstairs) is my preferred area to eat, but there is plenty of space upstairs as well. Definitely recommend checking it out for a good, informal dinner.

I took the family out to eat on a random Wednesday night and surprisingly the restaurant was quite busy! Downstairs it was full but it still only took 5 min to get a table for 6. Once ordered, the food came out extremely fast and was delicious. Great experience all around, and great atmosphere. Thanks.

The Dunellen Hotel & Rathskeller is a pub/restaurant. Great assortment of draft and bottled beers. Restaurant upstairs and bar area (Rathskeller) downstairs. Pretzel crab meltaway is a favorite appetizer. Great burgers, nice sandwich selection. Lobster Reuben is a popular choice. Onion soup is a favorite Ample parking in rear. Reservations recommended on the weekends.
