Chattanooga, Tennessee became the home of The Yellow Deli, opening its doors in May of 1973. Serving healthy food in the midst of a “fried-chicken-culture”, the deli was an immediate success. Finally, there was something different. We served luscious fruit salads, great sandwiches, fresh garden salads, and homemade desserts. Something about the warm, rustic atmosphere drew people like a magnet.
At the bottom of the hand-drawn menu was scribbled a sincere and provocative question: “We serve the fruit of the Spirit… Why not ask?” The term “fruit of the Spirit” comes from a Bible verse about love, and joy and peace, being the “fruit” which would be produced by the lives of those who knew God.

So I took my friend here for his birthday and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had at any restaurant. The building and atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, the food was so delicious and fresh, and the service was incredible. Everyone we passed had warm smiles across their faces. The staff even surprised him by singing happy birthday while playing a ukulele and a delicious carrot cake. Will definitely be back to try everything else on their menu!

the coolest little place!! loved the cozy atmosphere! the food was great and the tea was absolutely divine. I got the lemon mint cooler and it was delicious!!! it was valentine’s day so it took a little while to be seated, but there was plenty to look at in the market area, so time passed quickly! overall, it was a great experience!

Such an adorable and delicious place! Service was prompt and sweet as their honey. Lots of sustainably sourced products they use in their foods and drinks. Its a Cafe/Deli that is a step above in all categories. A must visit for the rustic cottagecore ambiance alone. Make sure you get tea and dessert!

Had a delightful time having lunch here today. The decor was lovely and everyone was very personable. Excellent service! My advice to anyone who leaves a review about this being a cult, please remember that Jesus instructs us all to conduct ourselves in love and not judgment. I would absolutely come for another meal!
