Only place opened in town when we came up here for a wedding. Burgers and brisket sandwiches were great, but didn’t like nachos.

Good falafel wrap, though a bit onion-heavy for me. Nothing I couldn’t fix by plucking them out though. Great historical landmark-rest stop combo on Carson Pass.

This place is cashless. Not going to support a business that won’t take cash.

Very high-priced for rubbery chicken wings and barbecue sauce. The splash of bean soup my friend ordered did mot look much better. We actually picked a different option but they were pretty much told him everything on the menu. The tea was good. Most of the seating for this restaurant is out of doors against the HWY. Better placement would be around the side of the restaurant away from the highway noise. There are few dine out options in the Kirkwood area.

We walked into the restaurant about an hour before the scheduled closing on a Saturday night in July as soon as we sat down at the bar, the bartender said that they were “done cut off no more food ran out no service they had nothing to offer zero zilch he made no attempts to talk to the cook and see if they had even a salad or some soup crackers anything they were not very busy. I understand this place is far removed but come on. Very poor service didn’t even offer a drink.

Historic saloon with amazing food! Come for the history, stay for the pull pork sandwich.

Great BBQ! We visited Kirkwood in the summer, (for a wedding at the “HideOut”), and found that this was the only restaurant open. Fortunately, it is a great place for lunch and dinner! They open for lunch, so, currently there’s no breakfast offered. Our group tried a variety of dishes and everyone enjoyed their meals. The restaurant is currently only open for dining outdoors. There are plenty of outdoor tables but there is no waiter service. They do bring your food out to your table in to-go boxes. The BBQ chicken was excellent! Very moist and tasty, and their BBQ sauce was great. The sliders, although technically an appetizer, were a great choice for a light dinner my wife added a side of fries. The pulled pork was great. One warning, in June at dusk, the mosquitos were voracious, we took our food back to the hotel.

Burger and fries–petty simple. Fries were Luke warm at best. Less than 10 customers. Burger came with what they call cheese–not real cheese. That’s why I ordered a burger. Feel sorry for the staff.

Has seasonal hours. How do you live in the winter it’s open most the time. Really close to the ski resort and Caples lake. The bar is aesthetically pleasing him but the service is a little slow kind of understaffed. The upside is this bar is much cheaper than getting a drink at the mountain.

I had an average experience: food was ok, but nothing special. No one asked if the food is ok. No refills. I felt like another walk-in never-come-back-tourist. But maybe Friday was too crowded or busy and I walked in at the wrong time?
